Congratulations on surviving 2008

A year when:
  • Oil reached $148 per barrel and then dropped to under $40.
  • America voted in its first coloured president.
  • World share prices tumbled by around 40%.
  • The interest rate in England is now the lowest in 300 years.

Bob Dylan was right when he sang the "Times they are a Changing".

We hope you had a great break over Christmas, because guess what, 2009 is going to be as challenging as the last.

The companies that succeed in 2009 are those that do not think of the fortunes that have been lost by the recession but focus on how they can benefit from the recession. This could mean thinking outside the square to ensure you stay ahead of your competitors.

Ecomgroup have been offering innovative internet marketing services for over ten years. We believe there are four key strategies are important to your success in 2009.

  • Maintain excellent communication with your customers.
  • Focus on how you can operate more efficiently
  • Maintain your brand presence.
  • Keep a tight control on your cashflow.

AND WE HAVE THE PRODUCTS AND SERVICES TO ASSIST YOU WITH THESE STRATEGIES.

But before we get into the heavy stuff, grab a coffee and take a short break and watch Robin Williams take on the Obama election. This is best viewed following a phone call from your bank manager or argument with your spouse.

Brilliant comedian, brilliant communication. You tube has changed the dimensions of the web. This is great entertainment but now companies now releasing the potential of video to communicate their products and services on the web. We believe this will be one of the key influences in 2009 that will address how to maintain excellent communication and how to operate more efficiently. More on that later. Paper distribution of catalogues and brochures (the traditional way) is an expensive way to communicate with your client base. The minute that a catalogue is printed, it becomes out of date. As products may change, prices may change, products may become unavailable. Once it is printed, you then need to distribute it.

Ebooks provide an effective way to communicate with your client base. They have the look and feel of a paper based product, but none of the associated cost of distribution AND they open your products and services to the World. Two of our clients have featured ebooks on the home page of their website.

Ebooks can be used in many different ways. When Winstone Wallboard Export Manager Peter Scott had to travel to the United States instead of taking heavy brochures with him, he had Ecomgroup turn the brochures into an ebook which were then burned onto a business card CD. This saved Peter the costs of excess baggage and customers had an easy reference to Winstones great range of product at their fingertips. AND as the New Zealand Hotel Council found, video embedded into ebooks were an effective way to demonstrate to their customers, the advantages of working in the hospitality industry.

Digital Screens
ESignz is a division of eComgroup that specializes in the provision of digital signage and touch screen kiosks. As the price of flat screen televisions has fallen dramatically the use of flat screens to promote product and services has increased in popularity. Some of our projects to date have included signage boards for Les Mills to display work-out sessions, tenancy boards for Smales Farm, point of sale mini screens for Windsor and Newton and Air Pacific and touchscreen kiosks for skycity cinemas, Les Mills and Vision Enhancement. If 2009 is a time to review how to communicate with your clients, then spend some time thinking whether a review of your signage is part of the strategy....... and then let's talk.

Web Video

We have assisted clients with highly affordable video shoots to conduct interviews, describe product and display hotel destinations. ECom can assist you in this growing communication area.

Two main tips are :- pay that little extra to have the job professionally filmed and interviewed and make sure that your video, using the latest compression technology downloads instantly on your website.

2009 Resolutions
I guess like me, every year you make a new years resolution that includes keeping fit. This was the best fitness program I found over the holidays. Exercise programme for the over 40's.

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.

With a 2kg potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can.

Try to reach a full minute, and then relax. Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.

After a couple of weeks, move up to 5kg potato sacks. Then try 10kg potato sacks and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 20kg potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I'm at this level.)

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each of the sacks.

This is likely to be one hell of a hard year but at the same time offer real opportunities to gain market share by working smarter. We want to work with you to try and bring innovative marketing solutions that work to address the key four questions for your business in 2009. How do you
  • Save costs
  • Communicate better
  • Grow sales in a difficult market
  • preserve cashflow
